Library Loot is a weekly event co-hosted by Eva and Alessandra that encourages bloggers to share the books they’ve checked out from the library. If you’d like to participate, just write up your post-feel free to steal the button-and link it using the Mr. Linky any time during the week. And of course check out what other participants are getting from their libraries!
I was a bit gluttonous this week but, in my defense, a lot of great new titles have recently come out. My only problem is I’m pretty sure I will never have time to read all of these no matter how much I want to.
Here’s what I picked up:
- The Glass Maker’s Daughter by V. Briceland
- Distant Waves by Suzanne Weyn
- Stray by Stacy Goldblatt
- You’ve Got Blackmail by Rachel Wright
- A Map of the Known World by Lisa Sandell
- Creature of the Night by Kate Thompson
- Carter Finally Gets It by Brent Crawford
- Skunk Girl by Sheba Karim
- Soul Enchilada by David Macinnis Gill
- Tropical Secrets by Margarita Engle
I also got books as possibilities for when I do booktalks on Africa and the Apartheid in May:
- Mufaro’s Beautiful Daughters by John Steptoe
- Angel of Mercy by Lurlene McDaniel
- A Girl Named Disaster by Nancy Farmer
- The Lion Hunter by Elizabeth Wein
- Nzingha, Warrior Queen of Matamba by Pat McKissak

I am right in the middle of Carter Finally Gets it, and I am loving it. That is a must read.
Skunk Girl was a very good book
I was dissappointed by A Map of the Know World and Soul Enchilda.

Don’t be sad about MKW and Soul Enchilada ‘cos I read them and *loved* them both! Every reader’s different. Keep following your own reader muse!

Just remember to tell us if you lean more towards love or not so much for these titles. But Holly is right, I’ve been told I would love a book and hated it.

I know, I hope the book is as good as the title.
Yikes, you definitely beat me in the library checkouts! :)

Carter looked hilarious. I’ll push it to the top of my TBR. I need to read more “boy” books.
I’m sad to hear about A Map of the Known World and Soul Enchilada. I’ve already started Soul Enchilada. I’ve been liking it so far but I’m only about 30 pages in. I’ll let you know how it goes.

I will definitely read them with an open mind!
